Milton Keynes

Creagh Parking helps solve Milton Keynes biggest challenge!

A £30 million, multi storey car park (MSCP) has been built in the centre of Milton Keynes after car parking was highlighted as the biggest single issue found by shoppers and retailers in the city centre. The project was a major development, converting a ground floor car park into a 4 storey MSCP with 1400 car parking spaces right next to the Centre:mk, Milton Keynes largest shopping centre. The location will boost the shopping and leisure core of the city as well as supporting the nearby Cultural Quarter, with its theatre and art gallery.

Creagh Parking combines over 20 years of experience in the construction of multi-storey car parks offering the market a seamless and efficient solution. This project involved the design, manufacture, delivery and installation of precast concrete stair cores, feature walls, door units, stair core cladding panels and the colonnade. Creagh’s stair cores were erected first (over 9 weeks) and were built in a sequence to allow the steel erectors to follow on afterwards. The erection of the steel frame required five 60 tonne cranes to manoeuvre the sections into position. Once the steel frame was complete Creagh started erecting the feature walls and colonnade, taking 11 weeks to install.

The project is a 52-week build involving over 160 people. It required its own vehicle management strategy to minimise impact on the day to day running of the rest of the shopping centre. This ultramodern carpark will constantly be updating the centre management, using parking bay sensors whilst also informing users about the end time of their parking via text message.
