Tees Renewable Energy Biomass Power Station

Creagh worked alongside Tecnicas Reunidas in helping to build the worlds largest energy station.

Building the worlds biggest power station

We were responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and erection of the precast concrete superstructure and works associated to the Electrical Building at the 299MW power station.

The £650 million plant has more than 500 staff working on site, building the world’s largest biomass power station on the south bank of the Tees.  It will be fuelled by wood chip and pellets and by 2020 will generate electricity for the equivalent of 600,000 homes.

It will diversify the UK’s energy resources and enable it to meet the larger target of generating 15% of all energy consumed from renewable sources by 2020. The project will specifically account for approximately 1% of the larger target.

The project will generate approximately 600 construction jobs and ten full-time jobs, contributing approximately £30 million a year to the local economy.  Creagh were delighted to be involved in this prestigious project.
